ABSTRACT: The benefits of early childhood education in mental health awareness were investigated to understand how early educational interventions can contribute to children's mental well-being. The objectives were to evaluate the level of mental health awareness among preschool children, identify effective educational practices that promote mental health, and assess the long-term benefits of early mental health education. A survey design was employed due to its efficiency in collecting comprehensive data from diverse participants. A sample size of 200 children from preschools in Lagos State, Nigeria, was selected using purposive sampling. Findings indicated that early childhood education significantly improved mental health awareness, with activities such as mindfulness exercises, emotional regulation techniques, and open discussions about feelings being particularly effective. It was recommended that early childhood education programs integrate these practices to foster mental well-being from a young age.
